LANDS VALUATION (SCOTLAND) ACTS
RETURN OF INFORMATION – SHOOTING RIGHTS FORM
In the past few days a number of estate tenants have received requests for information from the Assessor. We are aware that there is a degree of confusion as to whether responsibility for providing this information lies with the estate or individual tenants.
For clarity, this is a statutory request for information that must be returned by all recipients even where they believe they do not have any shooting rights (see covering letter issued with form).
The general right to shoot game over the Stòras Uibhist Estate is held by the estate and shooting rights for individual tenants will be restricted to vermin control. However, the Assessor is obliged to contact people holding rights over land where he believes a separate right to shoot game may exist.
There is a statutory obligation to provide the information requested we have received the following advice from the Assessor. The forms must be returned and should be completed with as much information as possible and as a minimum Parts A and B should be completed.
