The long-awaited repair work to the damaged drainage outlet at Smerclate commenced this week. The outlet channel was progressively weakened over the years and completely ruined in the 2005 storm. Local contractor, MacInnes Bros Ltd are carrying out the repairs and work is expected to be complete in the next few months.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have confirmed funding of £30,000 towards the ‘Gateway Lochboisdale’ project. This funding has been allocated against total project costs of £250,000. We hope to have a decision from the Coastal Communities Fund for the remaining £220,000 by the end of this year.
